About the piece
It is the second of the Deux Arabesques published in 1891. Marked Allegretto scherzando, it has a light, playful character.
The right hand opens with quick falling triplets, the left answers with staccato chords; the middle section is more singing.
How to practise it
- Practise the opening triplets slowly: light, with fingers close to the keys.
- The left-hand staccato must be short and precise.
- In the middle section play more legato and use a little pedal.
- Speed up only when the triplets are even.
